The Butterfly Story...

A wise old man saw a cocoon in his garden. After a few days he noticed a small
opening in the cocoon. He stopped watched as a butterfly struggled to force its body through the little opening. It then stopped and the butterfly couldn't come out any further.

The man decided to help it out a bit and opened the remaining bit of the cocoon. The butterfly came out easily.
But he noticed that it had a swollen body and tiny wings and could not fly. The man took the butterfly inside and continued to watch it, hoping that the wings would enlarge and expand so that the butterfly would be able to fly.

But the butterfly eventually died and was never able to fly.

What the man had actually done was prevent the butterfly from pushing its way
out of the tiny hole that would have enabled its body and wings to fly as it came out of the cocoon.

how many a/c's are there in Theemuge?

the auditor general should be prosecuted for his slanderous, baseless, politically motivated Audit Report of Theemuge, the former presidential palace, for the years 2007 and 2008... these reports accuse the former government of cronyism, embezzlement, corruption, nepotism, you name it...

how many A/C's are there in Theemuge?

if the term democracy means anything, to me, it is accountability...

the starfish story....

have you heard the starfish story?

A wise old man was on his daily walk along the beach. At a distance he noticed a little boy reaching down to pick something up and throwing it into the ocean, then tirelessly repeating it over and over again.

The old man curiously moved closer to find out what he was up to. The boy was picking up starfish left stranded by the ebbing tide, and tossing them back into the water, one by one, as if trying to save them all from dying and also from the hungry seagulls.

convinced of the futility of the task the boy had taken upon himself, the old man went up to him and said, "Son, hundreds of starfish dry up on this beach everyday. What you're doing simply won't make a difference."

Clearly hearing what the old man had said, the little boy bent down, picked up another starfish and threw it as far as he could, back into the sea. Then he looked at the old man, smiled and politely said,

"Well, it's made a difference to that one!"
